2017 Summer Camp Themes
Week 1: Moana Magic-June 19th-23rd
Let’s sail over to the islands of Polynesia! We’ll have an adventure-filled week by going on quests to find a magical gem and explore the culture and traditions of islands like Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, Tahiti, Hawaii, and more!
Week 2: Creative Coding & The Tinker Lab-June 26th-30th
We’re looking for inventors, imagineers, creators, and crafters! This week our camp will provide you with the materials you need to develop new ideas and create projects that could change the world! We’ll end the week with an Imagineer’s Showcase!
Week 3: Beyond the Board Games-July 5th-7th (No Camp 7/3 & 7/4)
Ever wanted to invent your own board game? This week we will play TONS of games as well as create our own! We’ll end the week with a Life-Size Board Game Competition!
Week 4: Magic Treehouse Adventure Club-July 10th-14th
This week our campers will explore the magical treehouse with Jack and Annie! We’ll venture out to the land of dinosaurs, battle pirates, enter the Amazon, or journey away with the knights at dawn!
Week 5: Guardians of the Superhero World-July 17th-21st
Power up! It’s time for our camp to protect the galaxy and develop our superhero skills! We’ll create our own characters, pick our shields, and go on adventures to defeat the enemies of the galaxy!
Week 6: The Sorcerer’s Stone-July 24th-28th
Grab your wands and we’ll join Harry Potter and friends at Hogwarts for the week! We’ll create potions, find out which wand is your best match, train magical creatures, and find out our patronus! We’ll end the week with a Horcrux Scavenger Hunt!
Week 7: Nature Adventures-July 31st-August 4th
Grab your binoculars and let’s explore the outdoor world around us! We’ll go on mini-hikes and build a toolkit (compass, flashlight, rain cover, etc.) to survive out in the wild!
Week 8: SINGapalooza-August 7th-11th
Calling all singers, actors, comedians, artists, and performers! It’s time for us to bring on the FUN of creating art, songs, jokes, and more! We’ll end the week with our 2nd Annual Talent Show!
Week 9: Out of this World!-August 14th-18th
Let's head to space and explore the galaxies and planets all around Earth! We'll learn more about the astronauts, space stations, and satellites that give us some amazing views of Earth.
Week 10: Animal-Mania!-August 21st-25th
This week at LHP we will spend time exploring the animals of five different places; the ocean, the forest, the grasslands, the rain forest, and the desert!
Week 11: End of Summer Explosion!-August 28th-September 1st
Our last week at LHP will be spent by going out with a bang! Join us as we spend time celebrating the end of summer! We will end the week with our favorite Mentos explosions!
Before camp starts for the day:
In the event of inclement weather, our Site Director/counselors will make phone calls to parents. Based on the days weather outlook, we will:
- Start camp at a later time
- Offer a substitute location, or
- Cancel camp
In the event of inclement weather, staff and campers will remain under the Baroody tent if light-medium rain. If heavy rain, thunder, lightning, etc. all staff and campers will seek shelter in the changing rooms/bathrooms. The Site Director/counselors will bring supplies (activities, first aid, meds) and contact information.
The Site Director/counselors will make phone calls to parents. Based on the rest of the days weather outlook, we will:
- Continue camp outside once weather subsides
- Cancel camp and request parents pick up campers
LHP and Baroody Camps Extreme Heat Policy:
- IF the temperature will reach 95 degrees, we will reduce camp hours to 9am-1pm. This camp day will include lunch time.
- IF the temperature will reach 100 degrees, we will cancel camps for the day. The option of attending a different location MAY be available.
*We will always notify parents if this policy is in effect or of any changes to the schedule.
SWIM & TENNIS PRACTICE/LESSONS POLICY:
Any child that needs to leave camp to go to practice/lessons must be signed out by an adult.
LHP instructors will likely agree to signing children out for their practice/lesson and then sign them back in after. Parents must make this arrangement with instructors and are required to add the instructor(s) as authorized pick up persons on their General Information Form (see the Site Director). Parents will no longer be permitted to sign campers into camps and then take them to practice.
- If an alternate camp location is offered, families will NOT be issued a refund even if camper does not attend.
- Refunds WILL BE issued if camp is canceled due to weather and NO alternate location is offered.
- If camp closes early due to inclement weather, NO refunds will be issued.
