Week 2: June 25th - 29th - Escape the Room - Baroody Camps Style
Are you ready to “escape the room” Camp Baroody style? We’ll spend the week completing a variety of escape rooms, building our problem solving skills, teammwork, and much more! Looking forward to seeing you there!
Week 3: July 2nd - 6th (No Camp July 4th) - I Wonder, wonder, wonder?
If you loved this movie as much as we did, we think you’ll enjoy an opportunity spend time with us this week. Our campers will get a chance to build community with other campers, by finding out what brings us together and what makes us unique. Using arts integration to guide our activities, campers will create projects that tie into a variety of lessons and themes we can learn from some wonderful picture books. We hope you’ll join us as we “choose kindness”!
Week 4: July 9th - 13th - What’s the Buzz at Baroody Camps?
Extra! Extra! This week at Baroody Camps we will be setting up our very own news office and working with our “rookie” journalists. Campers will learn about how to create the news in print, digitally, and “on air” with our very own “TV station”. Don’t miss it!
Week 5: July 16th - 20th - Potterville
This year our most popular camp is back, but with a new twist! We’re using a Robotics/Coding/STEM theme as our campers compete in their own houses. Each robotics/coding/STEM challenge will require campers to solve challenges throughout the week. We’ll take the Hogwart’s Express, climb the Quidditch Tower, join the Triwizard tournament, and meet Dumbledore in the Great Hall.
Week 6: July 23rd - 27th - Our Planet Earth
We will take this week to explore the natural habitats & animals around each camp location. We will get to experience a variety of methods for sustainable living through hands-on activities like; creating with found art, conservation, mini-hikes, planting, reducing food waste & littering, conserving water & electricity, and more. Join us!
Week 7: July 30th - Aug. 3rd - Caring Campers
We invite you to a unique week at Baroody that we are super excited about! This week campers will get the chance to share their ideas about places and people that are close to their hearts. Campers will learn about some area non-profit organizations that have made it their mission to support a variety of needs like Animal Rescue?, Martha’s Table, the American Red Cross, Washington Hospital Children’s Center?….. (choose places that are important to Baroody and/or we have connections to)
Week 8: Aug. 6th - 10th - Space Invaders
Look out! Space Invaders is coming to Camp Baroody! Spend the week with us as we explore the wonders of space combined with a bit of superhero fun! We need lots of scientists, astronauts, engineers, mathematicians, physicists, and more to help us navigate beyond the Earth’s atmosphere. Who knows what might be lurking in the next galaxy!
Week 9: Aug. 13th - 17th - Tiny Homes - Building, Architecture, and more
Have you ever checked out Tiny Homes or micro houses? While homes of all shapes and sizes have existed for many years, tiny homes have gotten more attention from building designers, environmentalists, and others in recent years. They are getting new designs and modern, environmentally-minded updates. The city of D.C. has a few called micro houses. We think our campers could bring their creative ideas and design their own tiny home! We’re looking forward to see what you can create!
Week 10: Aug. 20th - 24th - Mysteries, Detectives, and Clues
What’s hiding behind that secret passageway? When was the last time you saw Mr. Baroody? Is that a red herring or has the mystery been uncovered? We invite all campers to join Baroody Camp’s detective teams as we solve mysteries and create our own! The clues are scattered all throughout camp. You might be the first to solve our next mystery!
Week 11: Aug. 27th - 31st - Summer Explosion
We’ll end our summer at LHP with a bang! We can’t wait to have you join us for some of our favorite Baroody Camp activities!
